2023/24 Highlights

The thrilling new season of the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra opens with Dvorak’s beloved New World Symphony and closes with Mahler’s magnificent Titan Symphony. With great works from composers here at home as well as favourites from Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, John Williams, and many more – the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra will have something for everyone in 2023-2024.

Gustav Mahler

Symphony No. 1 ” Titan” Mahler’s first symphony is considered by some to be the greatest 1st Symphony of any composer. At one point, it depicts hundreds of tiny little creatures of the woods collectively carrying a slain hunter’s body out of the forest. The music is a string bass solo playing a funeral march based on Frere Jacques in a minor key.

Ludwig van beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven was a German pianist and composer widely considered to be one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. He wrote nine symphonies.

John Williams

American composer who created some of the most iconic film scores of all time. He scored more than a hundred films, including hits like Star Wars, ET, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park many of which were directed by Steven Spielberg.
